FAQ
What is Ohio Clean Air Coalition (OCAC)?
We are a volunteer-led mutual aid group lending out air purifiers in central Ohio to mitigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as well as other illnesses that spread through the air. What equipment does OCAC have?
Currently, we have a QT3 Portable Air Purifier (for personal use) and a Blue Pure 411a Max, 2 AirFanta 3Pros, an Airfanta 4Lite, and 1 set of Nukit Far UVC torches. What are air-changes-per-hour (ACH)?
How many times per hour all the air in a room is run through the air purifiers. OCAC aims to achieve 6 ACH at all of the partnered events. However, due to the varying sizes of venues, this is not always possible. We nonetheless feel that some air purification is better than none, so all Clean Air Club endorsed events will have at least one large purifier running.Who does OCAC loan air purifiers to?
Mostly, event organizers. However, we also loan purifiers to high-risk individuals who may be navigating the health care system, dentist, travel, or any other riskier environment. Our travel purifier is best suited for individual use. What type of events does OCAC help with?
-art gallery openings
-poetry readings
-activism/organizing spaces
-general community events
-dance parties
-sometimes private events like weddings/birthday parties (though not priority)Why does OCAC ask if my event is mask-required?
Everybody deserves clean air infrastructure and we accommodate as many requests as we can. However, in the event of a scheduling conflict, we will always prioritize lending purifiers to organizers who are requiring masks and therefore reducing preventable death and disability during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Knowing whether or not your event requires masks also helps us share accessibility info when we publicize it.
Masks-required may mean that the audience is masking but presenters/performers are unmasked while on stage. People may unmask briefly to sip a beverage, but it shouldn't mean that folks unmask for a prolonged period of time (i.e. a meal). Increased air purification should mitigate risk of people unmasking briefly for hydration or a small amount of people presenting/performing. Please understand that OCAC will list an event as mask-required when that is what the organizers tell us, if you experience otherwise, please let us know. OCAC members do not attend every event we loan to, and you should always feel encourage to contact the organizer of the event for more details.
p.s. masks "encouraged" ≠ masks required
